MI Multiple Intelligences

The Theory of Multiple Intelligence was developed by Howard Gardner, an American scientist in 1983. He states that every child is born with a distinct set of talents, interests, and ways of learning. These unique and distinct intelligence profiles are shaped by biological and environmental factors. One child may have stronger mathematical and musical intelligence while another may have stronger linguistic or interpersonal intelligence. It is because of individual experiences and genetic variations.

Gardner defines the eight types of MI and their strengths

All eight intelligences imbibed daily lesson plans of MI Wings. Your child will be engaged in a specially designed ‘MI Activity’ every day focussing on developing a particular Intelligence. There will be more than 200 MI activities throughout the year that are designed to continuously exercise your child’s mind and strengthen his/her unique Intelligence. A ‘theme-per-week’ approach helps the all round development of the child.

Assessment of MI in children using different Parameters

Teachers observe children during activities, noting their problem-solving strategies, understanding, communication styles, creative expressions, presentations, physical coordination, confidence, leadership abilities, presentation of rhymes and songs, taking care of plants and animals, reading, writing, pronunciation etc. The assessment results helps us to create personalized learning plans for each child. Our teachers tailor their teaching methods and materials to match student’s intelligences and learning styles, helping them grasp concepts more effectively. This approach supports individualized learning plans and promotes student success.

How does MI Benefit my child?

Children weak in a specific intelligence will be identified and given lots of activities to develop that intelligence. Your child will be able to develop each of the 8 intelligences. By recognising that each child is “intelligent” in his/her own way, naturally acts as a booster for the child’s self-confidence and self-esteem, factors that are critical in determining one’s learning attitude in later years. Presenting a subject in various ways gives students more opportunities to understand the concept.
